Jiouzhaigou (Nine Village Valley, elevation 200-4000 m above sea level), located at the northern foot of Ga'erna peak in Tibetan and Qiang Nationality Autonomous Prefecture of northwestern Sichuan Province. Jiouzhaigou scenic area is a 720 square km Y-shaped valley embraced by towering snow summits. This alpine valley wonderland consists of 30,000 hectares of virgin forests, 118 lakes, 5 calcifiction flowing shoals,12 waterfall groups etc. It is also enriched with animal and vegetation resources, among which pandas and golden monkeys. Jiouzhaigou has long been admired and appreciated by Tibetan and Qiang people in the area. It was constructed as National Natural protection area in 1978. Now It is a National Park of China, a World Natural Heritage Site(designated in 1992) and a World Biosphere Reserve (1997). The unique beauty of Jiouzhaigou is different from season to season. Here I present are the summer views of Jiouzhaigou. We visited the park with my parents in June, 2005. It was the first trip for all of us. |
