| Sanxingdui, a 5000 year old archaeological site, is in the nearby Guanhan county. At the center of the site is the capital city of ancient Shu. The excavation of just a small portion of the site yielded an abundance of artifacts. Finding this site extended the history of Sichuan by 1000 years and evoked great interests to the misteries about the ancient Shu culture. In 1996, six antiques (three bronze, two jade, one gold) found in Sanxingdui were named national treasures. Among which, are the tallest single bronze in the world (a 3.95m bronze tree) and the tallest bronze status in the world (a 2.62m bronze status). |
