| Scotty's Castle is a Spanish-Moorish style mansion located in an oasis of Grapevine Canyon. The extravagant building as well as the prosperous plant life around the building make the Castle almost like a mirage. The Castle was built by Chicago businessman Albert Johnson in 1922, and got its name from Albert's friend, Death Valley Scotty. We took a tour inside the Castle. Everything was very well preserved. As we listened to the vivid stories of Johnson and Scott told by our tour guide, the castle seemed to come to life. | |

| The Castle is full of antiques, a 1/2 ton chandelier, an indoor waterfall, a giant pipe organ complete with a specially-designed room for sound effects. The doors and windows are hand-crafted, the details are beautiful. What I found most amazing is the well-designed air conditioning system that stands the test of time. After all, the designer of the system, Johnson himself, had an engineering background. |
