This is a very nice trail along the creek. It was wonderful to hear water trickling under and around the trail path. The water is clear but very salty; salt crystals can be seen on the edge of a smooth pool. The only fish that can survive in this environment are the famous pupfish. These little fishes have a very short life cycle, and it was a little too early in the year to see them. Along the creek, pickleweed and salt grass form a very nice and dense miniature forest. Pickleweed is like a cute and chubby string of peas, as you see here in the upper right picture.
