Amboy Crater
This is an extinct cinder cone on Historic Highway 66 between Barstow and Needles in California. It looks small but the terrain could be quite deceiving. We parked our car and hike straight toward the cinder cone, or as we thought we did. It took us a very long time to locate our car when we get out --- even we have a light-colored car!
Hiking up the steep and slippery trail, you can see the lava lake and the breached rim of the cinder cone.
