Emu

Dromaius novaehollandiae

Emu is the tallest bird native in Australia. It is second largest living bird in the world, smaller only to ostrich. This flightless bird has reduced wings but very powerful legs which make it strong runner. Each foot has three forward-facing toes (ostrich has only two toes). Female is larger than male. Emu eats plants and insects.
